14 Aug Ready, Set…School!
It happens every year. The fourth of July arrives, marking the “half-way” point of summer. We lament all the days that have passed us by and start making a summer “bucket list” to be sure we truly relish every moment. Then it happens. Almost instantly, the school supplies take over the sunscreen and beach items in the stores. Your bucket list turns into a “to-do” list. Your unscheduled days become overscheduled. Fortunately, there is still time! By planning ahead, you can knock those fun items off your bucket list while checking things off your to-do list before time runs out.
Oral Exams
Has your family had their oral exams this summer? If your child is going into Kindergarten, second or sixth grade, proof of a dental exam is required by the State of Illinois before the first day of school (public and private schools). Forms can be found online or in our office. Please schedule your appointments now!
Mouth Guards
Will your student be playing a contact sport this year? Come in to have a sports mouth guard made for your athlete before their season begins. Custom mouth guards work well to protect their jaw and teeth because they are tailor made for them. If your child has an old guard and has had orthodontic work done, it may be time for a new mouth guard that fits their new smile. Think about making a spare. Mouth guards are easily lost and having a spare will lessen your stress level and ensure that your athlete’s teeth are protected.
Dental/FSA Money
By the time we get our kids out on that first day, Halloween costumes and candy will overtake the spiral notebooks and backpacks. Then, way before our liking, the stores will force us to think about the holiday season. Time goes by quickly in the fall. Now is the time to check the funds in your Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Normally reserved for vision and dental claims, FSAs have a “use it or lose it” policy. If you don’t use the money you put into this account by the end of the year, it will be gone. Call the customer service number on the back of your insurance card or visit your insurance carrier’s website to check your balance. If you and your family have had your oral exams this year and you are sitting on extra funds, now is the time to schedule those cosmetic procedures you have been putting off. Call our office to discuss the available options for whitening or enhancing your smile with veneers, dental implants or crowns. Many of these cosmetic procedures require more than one appointment, so schedule them now, before you calendar fills up and your funds disappear.
We hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!
